Ok so my cat can barely open his eye and this gooey stuff that is red from blood i guess. We have to cats at home and they are very playful and often tackle each other, could this be that the other cat scratched his eye? Do u think I should take him to the vet or let it heal on its own?

Thanks!

  1. take your cat to the vet it's probably an infection

  2. You should take it to the vet.  They will probably give you an ointment called vetromicin, which is fairly inexpensive.  If you let it go, your cat could become blind.  It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to our "babies".

  3. all animals get eye boogers and when you don't clean it the eye gets infected and the eyes shuts. Your cat for sure has it in this case get to the vet and get medicated eye drops or watever the vet pescribes

  4. It could be allergies or he could have upper respiratory infection, which could be extremely dangerous.  We had 5 Persians brought into our shelter, one had a case so bad of upper respiratory (that hadn't been treated) that his eye was no more basically, it was swollen and popped out and just and big round circle, no pupils, eye lid, nothing.  I would clean his eye out with warm water for the time being and then take him to the vet in case it is more serious so they can give him proper treatment.  Also, look for any sneezing/coughing, etc. so you can bring these to your vets attention as well.  Good luck :)

  5. Maybe you should get it checked by the vet in case it's infected or something.

  6. Probebly infected I'd take him to the vet, and fast.

  7. Take your cat to a vet.  Most likely it is an infection.
