It is simply the deflection of an x-rays path through an object, by the particles that make up the object, it is represented on a film as a two dimensional picture , but can be 3 dimensional if done by a form of crystallography, it therefore di[plays the physical make up of the object, that is not apparent by visual means, as the x-ray has a shorter wavelength, it can measure smaller particles than any form of light, visualisation or microscopy....
