What is Yorkeys k**b like in Cairns?

We are thinking of going there for 8 nights over december, I konw it will be hot and that it is stinger season but just really want to know generally what it is like because it fits our budget and doesnt look too bad.

I used to live in Holloways Beach which is second beach of all those beaches to the north of Cairns.

It was a lovely little tropical spot.  Holloways was about 20 minutes from Cairns (car), Yorkeys a little further but not dramatically I don't think...

You can easily get to Kuranda (lovely place) and go to the reef (no stingers).

If it gets hot go up, Kuranda and the highlands, it's cooler...

It's nice - was there a couple days ago - I live a couple beaches up.   Smithfield Shopping Centre (Mall) is only a few mins drive and has everything you need there.  At Yorkeys itself there is quite a few shops, liquor store, mini supermarket, take away food etc...  You'll love it!

Public buses (Sunbus) is very easily accessible - jump on the bus and go to town, Smithfield mall .. every 30 mins there is a bus.
