  1. If a child turns five on Sept.1,2007 they will go to school with children who turn five Aug. 2008. Those children of Aug. birthdays will be considered the young fives because the Sept. children will turn six. That is of course in schools whose cut off date is Sept. 1. Hope this makes sense.

  2. i dont know nothing you sayed lol g2g

  3. hahahaha your silly

  4. We have two classes at our preschool - for 3's and young 4's (those who turn 4 too late to get into the 4's) and 4's and young 5's (those who turn 5 too late to the cut off date).  Our cut off date is August 2, so if your child had a birthday of even July, she would be considered a young 5- just because those cut off dates are there for a reason and it's up to you to weigh if your child can handle the kindergarten readiness skills they will be doing in preschool - or the official kindergarten skills in kindergarten!  Talk to the teachers with your child and come up with a solution together -that's what they are there for!

  5. Young 5's are those children whose birthdays fall shortly after the regular cut-off date for school enrollment.  It is usually less intense than Kindergarten, but more structured than pre-school. There is often a chance that a student can go from a young 5's class into first grade the next year. It all depends on how much progress has been made.

I think this is mainly used in the private school setting. It can also be used for children who are technically able to go to Kindergarten, but may not be quite ready for various reasons.
