I have some theatre friends that are working on a show that opens this weekend and they both said "we have a 10 out of 12 today." What does that mean?

  1. It means that during some 12-hour period -- 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., for example, or noon to midnight, or any stretch of 12 hours -- they will be doing 10 hours of work on the play.  They might get two one-hour breaks for lunch and dinner, or they might get just one two-hour break.
