  1. red eye flights are ones that fly over night.  example: leave San Fran at mid night and arrive on the east coast at 6 a.m.  hence the "Red eye" from being tired.

    usually a little cheaper

  2. Flights at, near, or after mid-night.

Usually they're cheaper, but there aren't very many flights at that time anymore.

  3. It's a night flight usually after midnight. Can last all night.

  4. What they said.

But, I can tell you it differs greatly from what we called a red eye flight in the 70's.

  5. a red eye flight is one that takes off between 9 P.M. and 12 A.M., It is a flight that leaves really late at night. and yes they are usually cheaper than day time flights! The best time of day to book a flight is around the noon hour or really late at night (red eye flight)

  6. A red eye flight is a flite that occurs during the evening, and crosses large areas of open land or sea.

    For example,

A USA to Europe flight may depart at 8pm and land at 8am (local times).

This flight would be a red eye flight.

  7. OK so I live in California, and have clients in Atlanta. If I fly there on a Monday, leaving at 9 am, I don't arrive until 2 or 3, and add on the time difference, it is 6 in the evening and the day is over - all I did that day was fly on the plane. Not really great use of my time.

Say instead I get on the plane at 11 pm sun evening. By the time the flight arrives in ATL, it is Monday morning. I sleep on the plane, and arrive able to have a full day of meetings.

But my eyes are red from only 4-5 hours crappy sleep on the plane.

Whether or not they are cheaper depends completely upon demand - if lots of people want to use that route, prices will stay high.
