  1. apply for the job-working in a restruant is the most fun you'll have, plus, you can work in any city if you are between jobs-everyone has restruants and they are always hiring. You can start out as a runner, learn it, watch other people's jobs-hostess, server, you may even end up in the kitchen, cooking or baking. Im not saying make a carrer out of it, but you never know what it may bring. I met a lot of great people working in the back of the house (kitchen) the front of the house (waitstaff, hostess, etc) and even managers-the food crews work hard and play harder-lots of fun times!

  2. Restaurant work is usually very demanding, physically and mentally. Many people get into it and get right back out because it wasn't what they thought it would be.

Just like any business, there are well-run establishments and poorly run ones. Good managers and lousy ones.

Ideally, the food runners job is to shuttle orders from the kitchen to a staging area near the table being served. The server for that table should then come over and serve or at the very least help you serve. In a well-run and organized establishment, all of the diners at a particular table should receive their entrees at exactly the same time. That means that each server/food runner will serve two people seated next to each other.

The pay is not great but the tips can be outstanding. This is an entry level job and can give you the exposure as to whether or not you'd want to continue in this industry.

    Good luck!

  3. It's something you eat that gives you bad diarrhea - like taco bell food

  4. Food runner is also one who sets up, keeps the food trays filled on the buffet table, cleans up, and put the unused food away.

  5. The food runner is the person who takes the food out to the tables.  I'm not sure why the waitress isn't the one bringing the food, since that seems to be her job and to me it complicates things to have one person take your order, another bringing the food, another yet refilling your drinks.  REally!  What's the deal???

  6. they bring the meals from the kitchen to a collection point for the waiting staff

  7. It's people the restaurant hires to literally run food to tables while it's still hot. Sometimes restaurants are too busy for servers to deliver food to their tables, so the food runners deliver food to all tables in the restaurant. You normally get paid minimum wage plus all the servers will tip you at the end of the night, most servers tip 20% of their tip totals for the night.

  8. someone who picks up the food from the kitchen and runs it to the correct table of diners, a runner eases the wait staff's job and make sure the food gets to the table hot

  9. I can't believe this girl thinks it's fun times to work in a restraunt!!!! WTF.  I waited tables for 7 years.  Yes 7 years and those were the worst 7 years of my life.  Customers are real mean no matter how nice you are, the kitchen is always fighting with you, you can never get the bus boys or food runners to do thier jobs, and the managers are complet *******. Sometimes you might have a decent co-worker to be friends with, but they come and go so quickly.  It's not a job for the light hearted.  Watch the movie "Waiting" and it IS EXACTLY like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh, the only reason I stayed was because of the cash..... the sweet smell of money.  But after a while even that won't keep you happy.

  10. Food runners are just people that take the food (usually already put together by the expo) to the tables. Be an exceptional food runner by asking the guest if there is anything you can bring for them to get started and then taking it to them (ie steak sauce, extra napkins, refills...)
