What is a 'good' mother?

A good mother is also a friend to her children.  She must have an open ears to what her children are saying and the ability to read between the lines her children are saying. She respects her children's privacy.  

She accepts her children as they are, guides tham as they grow up.Best of all, a good mother is always there when her child needs her.

A good mother looks out for the best interests of her children, by encouraging them in all areas of their lives. A good mother recognises little differences in her children and individual strengths and abilities, and nurtures and encourages these.

A good mother respects the father of her children, no matter what the situation.

A good mother never involves her children in adult issues.

She is a haven for her children to run to with any problem and any question.  

A good mother involves herself in her children's lives fully, and does not question the importance of her children over work, or other.

Mine, lol, you would have to meet her, she is something very special.  She is not perfect and never has been but she is one great lady.

She did the mom things, those expected in her generation (she is 73).  I was tiny and as a teenager it was hard to buy clothes for me unless I bought them in the little girls department (which did not allow for b***s, lol).  So my mom made my clothes...not like homemade clothes, but to look like just what the other girls wore.  She taught me to cook and bake, but also to balance a check book and live on a budget.

She told me about s*x without using stupid phrases or dumb expressions and she did not fall apart when she knew I became sexually active.

She was tough when she needed to be and wise when she needed to be.  She worked all her life and set a good example for being a good employee and helping others.  She said no, when no was the right answer and she let go when she knew the right time had come.

A mother who knows her children. I mean who really knows her children. Their little nuances, personalities, their likes and dislikes. A woman who is involved in their lives every way a mother could be involved.
