What is a 'troll'?

This may sound silly but I still have no idea. I've heard it at least 100 times, mostly in this section which is why I posted here sorry, people calling others trolls but I don't know what it means.

Trolls are those who don't want to engage in any serious debate or discussion. They just ask, or answer, with the  sole intent to annoy.

umm a troll is a fantastical creature that is a beastly man-eating monster that looks like a cross between a gorrilla, a bear, and a very angry sloth.  but when people call others trolls, they usually mean unpleasant, mean, piggish, etc.

It's also a person who posts questions to antagonise others. They aren't seeking a proper answer, they just want to annoy
