Like there is an ele. Guitar tht is call a bass which has only 4 strings

And there is an Acoustic Guitar

So what is a 6 string electric guitar called

Like a gibson flying v what is it called I know it not a bass is it an acoustic

  1. It's simply called an electric guitar. If someone simply calls something a guitar, then chances are it has six strings. There are twelve stringed guitars, and other amounts of strings but six stringed ones are most common. A bass guitar is significantly different from a guitar in the size of the frets, strings, number of strings (usually four, can have more), etc.

    So you can just call a six string electric guitar an electric guitar.

    A Gibson Flying V can be referred to as an electric guitar for example, lol. You could say six stringed electric guitar, but that would be unnecessary.


  2. It's called an electric guitar.  Guitars come standard with six strings. So unless the guitar has a different number of strings (say 7 or 12), it is understood to have only six strings and there is no need to specify the string count.
