What is a Acoustic Electric guitar thinking of buying one?

Hi i am thinking of buying a guitar and i saw one saying Acoustic Electric guitar do this mean like you can change it from sounding like an acoustic into an electric could you explain how they work please?are they any good

An acoustic electric guitar is pretty much just an acoustic that you can hook up to an amp. It makes the sound louder and because it's still an acoustic it has a fuller sound than a normal electric guitar.

acoustic electrics are great because you don't HAVE to hook it up to an amp in order to get a great sound like you do with an electric guitar. They also look nicer and are sometimes less expensive too.

ok acoustic electric guitar are exactly what it sounds like.

they are shaped like acoustic and sound like acoustic and all but you can plug them in like electric. my brother has one. they sound like acoustic but they can get louder. they are good for acoustic performances.

an acoustic electric guitar is an acoustic guitar which has a built in piezo in its bridge which can accumilate the sound of an electric guitar.  you can plug them in to an amplifier. they are good if you are trying to create a classic/ folk sound but if you a re trying to create a rock/metal soung buy an electric guitar. i would reccomend gibson, fender of grestch.

Acoustic-electric guitars are acoustic guitars that have electronics and pickups installed in the body of the guitar.  This allows them to be plugged into an amp, PA, whatever, for amplification or effects.

I'm a huge fan of acoustic-electric because you can get a great acoustic sound and then plug that sound into an amp and make it even more awesome!  Note, though, that to get the best tone, you'll want to buy an acoustic amp.

Some people will tell you that installing electronics into an acoustic hurts the tone, or that concentrating on both acoustic and electric instead of just one makes for an inherently bad product.  These people are communists.  :)  Acoustic-electrics combine the best of both worlds.  Get one.  

Unless you're a shredder or metal guitarist, in which case you will absolutely hate it.
