  1. It is the LONG process that the Unmanifested  takes in bringing about the manifestation of Itself through nature.

  2. ive got a hairy bum man...

  3. its all bollocks invented by a beardy t**t

  4. The egg came first.

Two flocks of birds that were not chickens mated (for whatever reason--who knows?) The genes mixed; out hatched chickens.

Now, if the chicken had been a genetic flop that could not survive, both of the flocks and the chicklets would have perished. The chicklets were not flops.

That is one possible theory that does not conflict with this one:

Every species carries genes that are not in the "on" position. Something in the environment turns them on, or turns others off which allow the ones that are on to become dominant. If the ancestor of Homo habilis lived in an environment that caused a gene to be switched on or off in its offspring, that offspring could have been Homo habilis.

  5. Overtime, animals adapt to their environments and change to better suit their lives.

  6. this guy has some amazing videos that will explain evolution to you

    they are truly brilliant

    good luck with your philosophy!

  7. Door to life is 5 foot 2 inches high, all people over this height banged their head and died off before becoming parents.  Humans then mostly became 5 foot 2 inches high or below.

  8. Organisms exist. They live in environments and compete with each other. Sometimes the environments change or the organisms move. Then they have to adapt to the new circumstances or else die out. Sometimes organisms catch a lucky or unlucky break with a genetic mutation and flourish or go extinct. Over time, the organisms with the best mutations survive, while the less fortunate die. These organisms are very different from when they began the process.

And they all lived happily ever after. Except the ones who died.

  9. Simplest explanation, survival of the fittest. Over generations various species evolve, adapting to conditions and choosing the best, strongest members to produce offspring.

Some changes are 'accidental', but if they increase survival rates they will remain. Others that do not adapt well to prevailing conditions die out.  Like the Dodo, a large bird that couldn't fly, was not scared of humans.  Humans eventually killed them all for food, feathers.

The dodo didn't adapt from having no predators to fearing predators and taking evasive action.

Nobody has explained the whole reason for new species evolving over time, but adaptation to conditions, and natural selection are named.

If you are in uk there is a programme on Channel 4 tommorrow (monday), 8pm, on Darwin and his theory of evolution.

  10. The strong in the climate get stronger and the weak in the climate get weaker.

When the climate changes so does the ranking of the strong to weak thus changing the path of the strong get stronger and the weak get weaker. You are only strong in certain fields, when the fields change then there are new stronger and new weaker.

Adaptation, some of those that were strong in a certain climate MAY have adapted when the climate changed, giving rise to an alternate species.

Diversification, some of those that were the same were split by land mass change, ones on one land mass had strength in that climate and survived and developed and the others of the same species in the other land mass had weakness in their climate and so died out.

Monkeys were always monkeys and humans were always humans.

  11. A continuous non stopping process of gradual undetectable when monitored over a short period of time change of a species.

Basically its just like an individuals life

    Embryo - Baby - Toddler - Child - teenager - Adult - Elderly

    Growing up is a continuous

    You never stop aging

It takes years to see a change

Its undetectable like if you look in the mirror in the morning then the same night do you see a difference

From a baby to an adult you have changed.

Exactly like evolution except its not an individual but a species.

  12. throughout time organisms have random mutations when they are born, if these mutations are beneficial it increases their survival chance so that when they reproduce this mutation is passed on. if the mutation is not beneficial it decreases their survival chance and will not survive to reproduce.

  13. Individuals with useful mutations survive longer to have more kids than the average population.

    That's evolution!

    WARNING! Tedious details coming up!

    Natural Selection

If you inherit a trait from your parents that helps you survive and have kids, one of your kids may inherit that trait from you and have a better chance of surviving to have more kids.

    Mutation

When you inherit a trait from your parents, that trait may be changed in some small way. That change may help you to survive to have kids or it may hinder you.

  14. Organisms tend to go through tiny changes within their species.  Some of these changes confer an advantage to them, such as a different colour skin, which helps them avoid predators.  Consider a type of moth, which is preyed upon by birds in the twilight. Those who benefit from this advantage will tend to live long enough to breed, passing it on - this is the origin of the slightly confusing phrase "survival of the fittest" - confusing because 'fittest' in this case is not to do with being strongest or fastest, or biggest and best fighter, but the one 'fitting-in' to the environment.

The whole Theory of Evolution depends on these tiny changes, which are called 'mutations'.  Some will not help at all, leading nowhere.  These will not tend to be passed on.  The mechanism of these mutations, is quite possibly simply errors in DNA replication from parent to their off-spring.  Discuss that last point with your teacher.

  15. Straight from Wikipedia:

In biology, evolution is the process of change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms from one generation to the next. The genes that are passed on to an organism's offspring produce the inherited traits that are the basis of evolution. Mutations in genes can produce new or altered traits in individuals, resulting in the appearance of heritable differences between organisms, but new traits also come from the transfer of genes between populations, as in migration, or between species, in horizontal gene transfer. In species that reproduce sexually, new combinations of genes are produced by genetic recombination, which can increase the variation in traits between organisms. Evolution occurs when these heritable differences become more common or rare in a population.

  16. Monkeys changed to humans over time.

    Brief enough for you?

  17. it's the ability to learn from your mistakes.

  18. It's VERY simple.

Random Mutation + Natural Selection = Evolution

As human knowledge of Physics & biology grew, people started to wonder if it was possible for new species to arise naturally as oppose to being the continuous work of a divine designer.

They knew Random Mutations occurred, but these were almost always bad.   So how could something that looked like intelligent design occur without an intelligent designer?    The natural order of things was to decay not become more advanced.

It was Darwin's brilliant insight that resolved this conundrum.

Darwin theorized that it didn't matter if the vast majority of Random Mutations interfered with survival/procreation because these mutations just Naturally died out. On the other hand helpful Mutations, no matter how rare, were exponentially copied by the nature of life.

Darwin's theory is so simple it's almost a tautology.

"Any change in the genes, that helps the genes get passed on, gets passed on.  Any change that doesn't doesn't"

Darwin's theory does NOT suggest that there are no intelligent designers, it simply says that Random Mutation & Natural Selection ALONE can cause life to develop & adapt to its environment.

It says it's possible for speciation to be a natural phenomena.

  19. The slow change in the characteristics of species over time.

  20. get born get old die
