What is a Bartender?

Question

i know this may seem like a really obvious question, but i dont understand the "multiple meanings".

1: If u work in a bar (not as a waitress/waiter), but as a person that works behind the counter (mixing drinks,etc.), are you a bartender?

2: If u own the bar, are u a bartender?

3: If you own the bar and u work behind the counter, are still a bartender?

4: Can a bf/gf and/or husband/wife both own a bar, and work behind the counters? Do you think that would be a little crowded or fun?

Plz answer to the best of ur knowledge! Thnx a bunch!

well, i live in oklahoma(which i hate)...however....a bartender is the person who mixes the drinks behind the bar and sometimes in the 'Redneck' bars of oklahoma, they also bring the drinks to your table.  I guess if you own the bar and don't have service staff and you work behind the bar as well, you too would be the bartender.  In some big cities, there is a school of bartending and i think they make big bucks.  hope this helps....

n.   One who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a bar. Also called barkeeper.
