What is a Biology Pre-Medicine Major Really Like?

I am going off to college next month and i am so excited!!! I am a biology pre-med major and people keep undermining my intelligence and keep telling me that i will not make it as a physician. They also tell me that 1 out of 2 people that are pre-med majors drop their major because they couldn't handle the work load. I know they are saying that just to scare me but i am very ambitious and will not give up. But can any one (especially doctors, current medical school students, or pre-med major students) tell me how to stay focus and the GPA/MCAT score i need to enter medical school? And also, is it possible to graduate in 3 years instead of 4 years with a pre-med major?

  1. Definantely, I am applying to med school right now.

Its more like 9/10 end of freshman pre-med majors either drop out or don't get into med school, but that doesn't really matter, because if you have the MCAT & GPA then you will be fine.

You will need to get a GPA of 3.7 and an MCAT of 30 and you will have an excellent shot of getting in most places. This is easier to achieve for some, very difficult for others. But if you put the work in, I have no doubt you can do it, Just study everyday. You will also need to be involved in some sort of club/extracurricular activity and volunteer in a hospital. All easy things.

Graduating in three years is going to be very difficult and i wouldn't recommend it, so you can spend more time studying to get higher grades.

    Good luck
