  1. blue ray has to be played in blue ray players only, and blue ray are a higher capacity in memory then regular dvd's.. and blue ray beat out HD DVD's in the format war.. so blue rays are the discs with the best picture quality out now

  2. High-definition, Blu-ray discs offer consumers what is now the ultimate in picture quality: its programming is recorded in the 1080p format, delivering 1,080 lines of information, progressively scanned. If you own a large-enough 1080p flat panel TV, you’ll be able to see the difference between its picture and that of a high-definition image transmitted by your local TV station, cable or satellite.

  3. With blu ray you can get up to like 10x clearer image than dvd, Blu ray discs have a bigger storage capacity so can hold much more data.

You can also access the speacial features while still watching the movie, Picture in Picture.

  4. Blu Ray is a new form of DVD HD. it produces a better image on a HDTV. it looks really good.

  5. There are two High Definition standards for Digital disks: HD-DVD and BluRay. HD-DVD is now obsolete since it was discontinued earlier in the year. BluRay is the only one left standing.

A BlueRay disk is the same size as a regular DVD and, other than the fact that they make them bright blue, is indistinguishable from a regular DVD. However, the density of the recording is 5 to 10 times greater than a regular DVD.

A blueRay disk cannot be played in a regular DVD player but a regular DVD can be played in a BluRay player.

The image quality of a Blue Ray is noticeably sharper than that produced by a regular DVD and is most noticeable with cartoons. Many people think that the added picture quality is not worth the added cost. The added picture quality of a BluRay over a regular DVD is not as great as the added quality seen in a regular DVD over a VHS tape. This might explain why BluRay has not penetrated the market as rapidly as DVD's did 7 years ago.
