  1. You might want to put up a couple of pictures.  I do think a wall mirror would be nice.  When I am staying somewhere I like to have a clean feeling when I go into the room.  If you don't have any bedding I would go with white, a white comforter, sheets, and pillowcases(as long as the walls are a different color).  White is also easy to clean.  If the room is large enough it might be nice to have a chair and a lamp.  The chair can just be a cheap dining chair or something.  It would be nice to have a spot for them to put there suitcases while unpacking instead of the bed and a nice place to sit also.

  2. You have a good start. Keep it simple. A mirror or picture of horses and a night stand with a lamp would be nice touches. Put a vase of flowers (can be artificial) on the dresser. Add a colorfull quilt and some throw pillows to the bed and you are set.

  3. Think of a theme you would like to see in the room and go with it.  Add things as you find them and can afford it.

There is a catalog called CollectionsEtc that have some wonderful items that are quite inexpensive.  They usually have awesome shipping deals as well.

You can do an ocean/beach theme.   Plain white walls would be suitable, and it would be easy to change the theme later if you wanted.  Shades of blue, turquoise or green would also work, as well as a sandy shade.

Toss some throw pillows of coordinating shades on the bed.  Use some shells in a bowl on the dresser as decoration.   Perhaps some lighthouse and/or dolphin knickknacks.

You could do the same with anything-favorite kind of flower, favorite animal, favorite hockey team.  Let the main thing be the color scheme and then add in other items as you find or can afford theme.
