I have been in contact with the cruise line 3 times, over the last month explaining that the travel agent is not answering calls or e-mails. My party is 116 people. They are fans, coming on the cruise, to party with my band. We sail in 45 days. I don't know where we are performing on ship, how to get our gear on board. etc. I'm at a loss for words

  1. This is a bad situation however there is a way to resolve this.  Which company does your travel agent represent?  Liberty Travel?  Cruise One?  there has to be a home office that he is tied to.  You have to call the home office and let them know the name of your travel agent and his phone number and they will be able to "find" your agent and then he will have to call you back!  No credible home office will allow this to go on.

Sorry this happened to you.  It is people like this that give travel agents a bad name.

    Good Luck

  2. A cruise line has NO responsibility toward travel agents.

If you can't contact this agent within this week, you'd better get some legal help.

  3. I would call the cruise line and ask to speak to a representitive in charge of large groups for that cruise. Someone at the cruise line must know about a group of that size. It's like when my sister got married at a resort hotel last year. She had a special contact person at the resort handling her wedding, including all the hotel rooms rented by the group. Your travel agent sounds like a real jerk, just taking your money and ignoring your calls.

  4. legally, the cruise line will normally only deal with your TA and will not interfer with TA / Client relations.  However, with a group of  116 people,  I would imagine that the cruise line may be a bit more helpfu.

  5. Well the general answer is that if it wasnt the cl that booked they arent responsible for you.

If your band are hired by the cl thyere might be more willing to help you. It never hurt to ask if youre just asking for info. Most cl tends to be willing to help you if it doesnt ruin them.

Make sure to read every rule in the fine print that you have recieved or that is on either the cl:s or the travel agent to see if there is any thing there that can help you.

If there is something that gonna require legal aids then get in contact with a lawyer asap.

Also try to find out weather or not your and your partys cruise tickets have been paid to the cruise line. You have a great larger change of getting info/help if the cl has got their money.

    Good luck! Johan

  6. You're kind of in a bad spot, the cruise line will insist you talk with your travel agent because they have no contractual obligation to you but they do have one with your travel agent. Get the cruise line to connect you to the group sales department and insist someone look up you information and don't take no for an answer. They will not want to lose the 60 or so cabins involved but you need to let them know that is a real possibility. Also let them know the name of the TA and your displeasure with them. They are paying them a commission so they need them working for them not against them. Good Luck.
