  1. same storm just a different name in the pacific area.

  2. No they are not the same and they are.  A Hurricane is a cyclone but a cyclone doesn't have to be a hurricane.  It could be a massive winter storm low pressure area or even a tornado.   The site listed below explains in future detail and shows graphical depictions.

  3. Hurricane, Cyclone, and Typhoon are all different names for the same devastating storm.

  4. They are the same thing.

There are 3 different names for major tropical storms, hurricanes, typhoons, and tropical cyclones.

Hurricanes typically are in the Atlantic, the eastern part of the Pacific, and from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.

Typhoons typically happen in the western Pacific. Places like Japan, Vietnam, and pretty much the eastern part of Asia.

Tropical Cyclones typically happen in the southern part of Asia and Australia, in the Indian Ocean.

They are the same thing, all must reach wind speeds of 74 mph or greater to acheive the name.
