  1. An FTA (Free To Air) receiver is used worldwide to watch Free Satellite TV Unencrypted DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) Mpeg 2 signals .

However many of these receivers have been hacked w/3rd party software to be able to receive encrypted programming , such as channels from Dish Network and BEV in North America.

FTA receivers cannot be used to view Direct TV , but Direct TV dishes can be used for Dish Network or BEV.

These small dishes are to small for TRUE FTA , I would suggest that anyone thinking of getting into FTA for ILLEGAL purposes such as stealing satellite programming not do so for several reasons.

The big satellite companies are currently going after distributors and manufacturers of FTA receivers and consumers who have purchased these receivers for illegal purposes, they are also taking Big measures to secure their signal which will make all the FTA receivers useless  unless being used for True FTA.

TRUE FTA channels are fun to watch , catching these signals requires the use of a larger 90cm dish (recommended) and a Standard Linear LNB, you can watch over 2 hundred  free channels.
