What is a Fundamentalism type of government?

Can someone explain to me what happens in a Fundamentalism type of government and give a country that uses it.

  1. Fundamentalism is a practice of clinging to religious beliefs.  Governments that impose Sharia law would be the best example of a fundamentalist government.  After the overthrow of Afghanistan, I'm not aware of any governments imposing Sharia law or any type of fundamentalist government.  Note that a fundamentalist government wouldn't necessarily be in contrast to a free society, fundamentalism under several religions such as Buddhism for example might be nice places to live.
