my brother has been talking about it.and saying he's going to get one.

is it a smart thing to do?

GED which is General educational development is for those who did not receive a high school diploma, its a test that's taken and if u pass the GED u have a GED which is the equivalent of having a high school diploma its for those who dropped out of highschool...its a very smart thing to do, i am actually starting my GED classes in September

It is a test that is supposed to be the equivalent of a high school diploma./ It is not really an equivalent./ Many employers and colleges look down upon tech test. It is much easier than acquiring a diploma. It also shows that  person cannot  complete what he started. Statistics show that those who hold a GED certificate do not on the average do much better in employment and salary that those who are high school dropouts.

Try to convince your brother that the GED which many conciser to be the easy way out is in reality the hard way to achieve something in your life.

if you drop out of high school you can get a ged. Its like a diploma but you go at your own pace and take the tests separately or together. You can usually go to classes for the Ged at adult education centers
