I'm 17 and I'm getting ready for school next week I plan to get a Job once I finish ACT/SAT in October. What type of Job is good for a Teenager my age? How do you work out your schedule with school and work?

I really don't want to work at a Fast Food Place are there any other options?

  1. Check your school for vocational programs where you can earn while you learn.

I agree about the grocery store... they have all sorts of shifts that can accommodate your schedule. If you need more work during the summers, you can either work more hours at that store or juggle two different part-time jobs at two different stores.

Maybe you can check around local small businesses? Some may need help with data entry or book-keeping on spreadsheet programs.

  2. the mall. you should try working in a shoe store or a clothing store. my friends have done it and they've managed. [: fast food places are out of question! :\

  3. What do you like to do?  If you like to read then apply at a bookstore, if you like to shop, work at a clothing store, if you like the movies, work at a theater...etc.

Try to find something that suits your personality..

    Good luck.

  4. retail?

  5. Work as a cart pusher at a grocery store.

  6. Well,my best guess would be a lifeguard (if you can swim)

  7. grocery stores almost always hire students. you end up giving them an availability sheet and they book you in depending on when you can work.

  8. I am a student,Walmart is great enviroment for students. Because there are other students in high school or college that are employed there. High school kids work hours are 5pm until 10pm 4x a week because of federal law for minors. I am a college student and work partime 4x aweek.(5pm-11pm) Walmart will work with you because you are a student. The pay is'nt bad either. lol"

  9. Are you thinking about attending college? If so, it would be a good idea to start listing possible majors or career paths and find a job in that industry. For example, if you wanted to work in medicine, apply for a candystriper position. Or if you like reading/writing novels, apply for a position at a bookstore or library. The key is tryign to find a job that will also help you build your resume when applying to schools. It will also help you decide if you really want to work in that area or not.

    Hope this helps!
