Ok these 2 have to share a room.

A 5 year old boy who loves Super Mario and THE COLOR BLUE.

A 7 year old girl who loves anything girly and the COLOR LIME GREEN.

What is a good design that they both can grow up into and can have at their age now?

Please I want to do something simple. Like items from Wal-Mart or Target or Homegoods or something like that.

New furniture would be nice too.

P.S. We got blue carpets.

  1. I would do the walls is a soft version of lime green for the bottom half of the walls so it will show up well next to the blue carpet. Then I would paint the top 2/3rd of the walls a similar or somewhat deeper blue than the carpet. I would get some ivory colored chair rail molding (not expensive) and nail it over the division line of the two colors.

On the girly side of the room, you could put a sweep of silk butterflies in pastel colors on the wall. They come in packets of different sizes in craft or fabric stores and are inexpensive. You could also use silk flowers if your daughter likes that motif more.

On the boy's side of the room, you could get Super Mario posters or decals and put them on the wall by his bed. I would put a small wall mounted two shelf unit above the lower part of their beds on each side of the room so they could each have their Super Mario or girl doll items near their bed.

There is a link  below to some inexpensive furniture choices that are gender neutral and will match.  Good luck!! : )

  2. ok

    split the room in half.

make the beds at 2 different ends and paint one wall mario walking or something at the bottom and the other one barbie or something and then do 2 blue walls and 2 lime green walls.

  3. Do a really white lime green if you know what i mean.

Also have white wardrobes and accessories!

They will love it! Because the carpet is blue its just simple to have lime green wall. But as i say, Have it a white lime green not to strong.

  5. I painted my five year olds' room two tone. In the bottom half, lime green (to represent grass), the second half and ceiling sky light blue ( to represent the sky). My husband is a sign writer and he has one of those industrial digital printers, so he was able to print large animal pictures. I did the design my self and it looks like animals are walking behind one an other. The room goes for both boys and girls and I find it very relaxing. We also put some bird stickers, clouds and a yellow circle for the sun. :)
