  1. There are 198 group homes in my city alone. Some for old people, some for kids who get to avoid jail, some for kids whose parents are in jail. The pay is minimum wage but not hard. /

  2. A group home is a home setting  in which a number of unrelated individuals live together. Generally these individuals share a common or similar problem. For example there are group homes  for kids recovering from abuse, group homes for developmentally delayed adults, group homes for ex offenders, etc.

Each home generally has a director (who may be over more than one residence) and one or more residence managers who may be called houseparents, resident advisors, residential life directors, etc.,   Homes may also have counselors, therapists, work placement counselors, attendants, maintenance staff, depending on the residents' needs.

Work offered to group home residents may vary from basic chores that keep the home functioning like picking up own clothes, doing laundry, helping in kitches, to sheltered workshop to training and placement in highly skilled jobs depending on the needs and abilities of the specific residents.
