  1. No offense, but Where have you Been these past few years?!?

An LCD HDTV (the Proper Acronym-Order), Stands for Liquid Crystal Display (&) High Definition TeleVision.

This means that it has an LCD Screen, like a Laptop Computer, and is a High-Definition TV. LCD HDTV's are Flat-Panel TV's, meaning that they are the 'Thin Screens', and are the type of Monitors Most PC's now come with, instead of a Tube-Type Monitor.

    HDTV's have a Wide Screen, with the Aspect-Ratio of 16 x 9.

The Screen Resolution is Much Higher, with More Pixels to make up the Picture. This means More Detail, and a Much Finer, Crisper Picture. (Or in My words, More Picture!!)

The Resolution of a Normal Ordinary TV is 640 x 480, and is often called 480i. A Progressive Scan DVD Player will send this Same Resolution to a Normal TV, without the Scan-Lines.

This Progressive version is called 480p.

    HDTV's use 2 Different Resolutions: 1280 x 720, and 1920 x 1080. These are often called 720p, and 1080i / 1080p. 1080i is an Interlaced version of 1080p, with a Slower Frame-Rate called Interlacing. 1080p is a Consistent, Progressive version of the 1920 x 1080 Resolution. 1080p is the Highest Resolution Available.

Many LCD HDTV's that are 720p Actualy use a Screen Resolution of 1366 x 768, which is just Slightly Higher than 720p. This gives Room for better Resolution when being used as a Computer Monitor.

  2. HD = High definition

LCD= Liquid Crystal Display.A display technology that uses rod-shaped molecules (liquid crystals) that flow like liquid and bend light

  3. HD is High Definition.  LCD is Liquid Crystal Display.

So an HD LCD TV is a TV with a wide screen, high resolution LCD screen.  Here is just one example of one http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/... .

    I hope this helps.
