  1. HDMI is able to support the 1080i signal meaning when you use this cable you are watching true High def

The component Cable with 5 connectors only broadcasts up to 720i

  2. HDMI Digital AV Cable is a cable you typically are supposed to hook into your HDTV from your DVD player.

it allows you to watch DVDS with more of a crisp, clean  look.

its not usually necessary, but i highly recommend one because you notice a difference in the quality picture with it when watching older movies.

  3. A HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable is used to carry an high definition video (up to 1080p) and audio (7.1 surround sound) signal from a high definition device such as a HD cable box, Blu-ray or HD DVD player, playstation 3, Xbox 360 and so on, to your HDTV. The HDMI has an advantage over the Component cable (another HD cable) as it caries both audio and video where as component only carries video, a separate cable is required for sound. Don't buy the high priced HDMI cables from the electronics store which usually run up to and beyond $100. If you want one do your research online and price them. I recommend monoprice.com; their cables are every bit as good as any other on the market and cost a 1/4 of the price or more.

  4. Since everything is basically using digital signals or sound ,the HDMI cable is used to connect digital signals and keeping everything in the digital domain. So the signal can remain more pure or unadulterated. It also changes the way we hook up to a sound  receiver, instead of having to use two cables (one for audio, and another for video), HDMI carries both signals, so you only have to use one cable.
