What is a Hitec HS-311 servo?

im trying to build a robot in a robot tutorial but i don't know what a Hitec HS-311 servo is please help

HItec is a brand name. They make a lot of RC car and truck and airplane parts. They also make the Robo-Nova bipedal robot. The HS-311 is a part / model number for a standard sized servo they made. here's a link to the specs.

You can probably find any number of servos that would work. the HS-322 is more common nowadays, so your tutorial may be dated. Also Futaba is Hitec's main competition. they have many comparable servos.
