I have been applying for jobs online all day and all that looks attractive enough are recruitment consultant vacancies, but what i wanted to know are these empty promises? (i.e OTE 50K,) are there any good companies to try (drummond graduates, etc)..and anyone with experience in this industry could you please advise me?....also what graduate jobs would be good for someone with a HR degree.

  1. Said a woman with open delight,

    "My pubic hair's perfectly white.

    I admit there's a glare,

    But the fellows don't care.

They locate it more quickly at night,"

  2. I was a recruitment consultant for years.  It's a high pressure job with long hours, you are constantly trying to meet targets, while beating off the competition.  I was good at it and I loved it, but I was single and child-free then.  I wouldn't do it now -  different priorities.  If you can meet the targets then you make the money, but that is hard for a newcomer to do so - the top consultants who have built up relationships with client companies are the ones who do well.

  3. Most of the jobs are really just cold calling to get contracts with clients and then cold-calling people from onlie CV databases to try and fill the roll as fast as possible before someone else does... It's highly competitive, cut-throat and more than often pretty immoral..

If had a HR degree I would work for a union and develop my career along employment law.

  4. NO!!  I have known two people do this and its like the new double glazing industry!!!

Cold calling and whipping bosses!!  who are all about the figures.  save your CV and your time!

Companies don't pay your commission and the staff turn over is massive
