What is a K? Or rather, how much is a K?

Speaking of money, that is. I've seen 5K and 10K on ads from, say, banks and stuff... But what does it really mean?

  1. K is abreviated from kilo (kilogram, kilometer, etc.) which means a thousand.


  2. "K" comes from kilo as in kilogram.

    Kilo comes from latin word for one thousand

  3. k means a thousand. So 5k = 5,000, 10k= 10,000 etc
