  1. A guy without a future.

  2. Those are world war II j*p pilots, Who will crash there planes to the enemy ship. They are also known as a live airial bombs. The war in Pacific most of the casualties that US forces got are from Kamikaze pilots.

  3. Kamikaze pilots were recruited towards the end of the war from Japanese aviation training centers. While some veteran pilots volunteered for these missions, many had very little training in actual combat tactics or advanced flying techniques. These pilots were trained in crashing their aircraft into enemy ships in an effort to have a sort of "human guided missile."

The name "Kamikaze" means "Divine Wind." They were a desperate attempt by the Japanese high command to thwart the Allied advance towards the their homeland. It was felt that  the Kamikazes would enable the Japanese to regain at least a temporary foothold in the ground they were losing by dealing greater losses to the enemy and or striking greater terror into them and thus causing them to lose confidence.

Kamikazes were generally made up of whatever aircraft that they had leftover, primarily older Mitsubishi Zeroes and perhaps some "George" aircraft. Most were equipped with some form of explosive on board. The Japanese also experimented with a small rocket plane called the "Oka" which means "cherry blossom." A romantic name for another suicide human guided missile. The Oka's were rare, difficult to shoot down, and not terribly effective because of their limited numbers.

Make no mistake, a direct hit on a ship from a Kamikaze was devastating, but they actually failed to do a great deal of damage; most would not even penetrate the reinforced decks of the American carriers. The reason being that most lacked the mass to do more damage than they did. And, less than 12% of the Kamikazes that were sent out on missions were able to actually hit targets. Most were taken out by allied fighters or anti-aircraft fire from the ships.

Early in Japanese history an invasion force from China was wrecked and sent to the bottom by a wind storm that the people saw as winds sent by the gods to save their country.  It became known as the divine wind or Kamikaze in their language.  The term was used again in modern times for the suicide bombers.
