We are trying to breed my Maltese dog with a neighbor's Yorkie, does anyone know what this mix would be and any characteristics that go with this breed? (i.e. good for kids). What do these dogs look like? Help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. A MORKIE!!

CUTEST LIL DOG IN THE WORLD, I WANT ONE SOMEDAY!!!!

they're the cutest things ever, just go to youtube and search "morkie"

  2. It's a mutt.

It has no breed standerd OR character traits. It's unpredictable.

It could have the traits of a Yorkie, or those of a Maltese.

    See what I mean?

    It could look like this:

    Or

    this:

    Stop breeding those ugly things.

For every *one* puppy you have, *nine* will die in shelters.

If you can sleep at night knowing that, go ahead.

  3. Its a Maltese/Yorkie mix better know as a MUTT a MONGREL or a CUR

They can look like one parent the other a mix of both or neither. Get your dog fixed and stop trying to make a profit on a bunch off unwanted and improperly bred mutts.

If creating mutts is the first thing on your mind you have no business breeding ANY animal. Breeding is not a game, a way to make money or something to learn by doing or reading info on the net.

Unless you plan to dedicate years to learning about and how to properly bred PUREBRED dogs do not breed.

  4. A maltese/yorkie mix is a dog and if you don't understand that then you have no business breeding.  Get em both fixed.  It wouldn't be a breed, it would be a mixed breed.....aka  a mutt!

  5. Take this c**p somewhere else.  Nobody on here supports breeding mutts.  And yes, that breeding would produce worthless MUTTS which will die in shelters next to all the other ones!  What is wrong with you people??  And by the way, have you saved up for a $2k emergency C-section and prepared yourself for the chance that the female dog will DIE due to your ignorance?

I can't even finish this, I have never heard such a blatantly idiotic statement in my life.  Congratulations you are now a PUPPY MILL in the making!

  6. It's a shelter dog just waiting for euthanasia. Seriously, don't breed mixed breeds, it's totally unethical.

  7. Why do you want to breed your dog?  Have you ever bred a dog before?  Have you checked out all the care that would go into breeding your dog or the possible vet costs if everything doesn't go as planned?  What if a C-Section has to be done?  Are you prepared to find homes for however many puppies your dog would have besides the one or two that you want?

Sorry for all the questions, but this isn't a decision to be made lightly.  These are called designer dogs and could be healthier than either the Maltese or Yorkie, or the little tykes could have multiple problems from each breed.  Generally each of these breeds are not a good choice for homes with kids.  They are tiny and can get easily hurt if a child is not very careful with them.  Each needs early socialization or may have a tendency to protect themselves in the only way they can (using their teeth) or become fearful.

Please give this more thought.  There are plenty of wonderful dogs and puppies out there needing homes already.

  8. cheak out this page, for some cute pics of  Maltese/Yorkie Mixes!

    hope i helped! <3

  9. they are called MORKIES! they are the cutest dogs ever!!! #1 morkie FAN!

  10. search it up on google..they will give you pics and i dont know what they can be like no one can now there personallity till he/she is born

  11. What is it? An abomination

  12. Here's a tip: Dont do it!

There are tons of mutts dying in shelters DAILY...and yes, of that particular mix, as it has become popular. If you want to see what the mix looks like, go to a shelter and find out! While you're there, you can see what those poor dogs go through due to irresponsible breeders.

You clearly have very little clue as to what you are doing, as well. You'll lose your dog.

And mutts have no standards, there's no way of telling.

  13. It's not a breed.  It's a mix between two purebred dogs.  A mix.  A mutt.  I don't know how else to say it.  It has no characteristics.

Seriously, don't breed mutts just for fun.  Please.

  14. My sister-in-law has a morkie, it looks exactly like a yorkie, but I'm sure it can vary quite a bit. Taking care of a pregnant female is a lot of work (not to mention the care of newborn puppies)and since it's a small dog, you must be ready for the possibility of a c-section. Especially, if the female is the smaller dog.

  15. Seriously, along with the other posters on here, what are you thinking?  There are too many shelter dogs as it is, what are you trying to do here?  What the heck are you going to do with the puppies?  Are you trying to torture the poor female?  Who is going to pay for the shots and vet visits when the puppies arrive?  Who is going to stay up all day/night while the mom is in labor?  Why would you want to start a mix breed like this?  Don't you think if there was a need for a Yorkie/Maltese mix there wouldn't already be a registered breed in the AKC?  You are the type of person who gives "backyard breeders" the glorified name they have.

  16. What is a Maltese/Yorkie mix?  A mutt.

You're not going to be able to predict what the puppies would look like at all.  It could be any number of combinations, but they're all going to be mutts.  Mixed breeds.  In other words, spay your dog.  You have no business breeding.

  17. Well, you could try searching online.  And puppies, no matter the breed usually develop their own unique characteristics that are usually similar to that of their parents.

Also, unlike someone else has said in their reply, it is completely ethical to mate 2 different breeds of dogs.  Afterall, that is how the types of dogs we have to day were created - by intermixing various breeds to make a dog with the desired characteristics.

On another note, it is extremely irresponsible to breed 2 dogs just because you feel like it.  You should really consider the risks  that it would present to the female when she is giving birth as well.

  18. Is there a demand for this type of 'designer' mixed breed?

  19. What is a Maltese/Yorkie mix?  A litter produced by two moronic owners.  The word MIX does not belong attached to the word BREED.
