Is a Morab classed as an actual registered breed or is it like with the designer dogs and just a made up name ?

  1. there a registered breed, there is a breed registry for them.

    morgan and arab cross.

  2. A Morab is a hybrid of a horse. It is crossed between a Morgan and an Arabian. Each breed contributes some of their own unique qualities to form a new horse.

  3. A Morab is a Morgan / Arabian cross. It's a crossbreed, like Quarabs, Pintabians, and Appendixes. You can register them as half - Arabians, half - Morgans, or the Morab Association: http://www.morab.com/

  4. It is a real breed, i believe.  It is a morgan Arabian cross

  5. It is a cross between a Morgan and an Arabian.

  6. The Morab is a horse originally created by cross-breeding Arabian and Morgan horses. There is evidence that American Quarter Horses have Morab blood in their early history. Morab horses were first bred in the 1800s. The publisher William Randolph Hearst is credited with coining the term "Morab".

WHO ARE THE TROLLS WHO ARE GIVING ME THUMBS DOWN!!?

  7. Bravo Bravo Buckinfun!!!!!!  They are a really good cross!!  They are very smart, quick... Just  very good horses!

    ****edit*****

Food for thought.... You can't reg 1/2 Morgans, 1/2 Morgans they don't allow it. They are very tight on that. Both parents have to be reg befor the foal can!!  But you can reg 1/2 Arab. Or a Morab.

  8. It's a 1/2 and 1/2 of Morgan and Arabian, just like I have a 1/2 registered Q.H. and Arabian they have a name for them too, (Quarab) but the Arabian will register the 1/2 the QH won't.  Not sure about the Morgan, believe they are like the QH:)

  9. a Morab is an Arabian crossed with a Morgan. I think they have a half-arabian registry that you can register them with...but im not sure. It is a made up name...it is not a purebred horse. No 2 are alike..kinda like the poodle crosses..most are extremely ugly...while some look good!!

  10. Morgan/Arabian

  11. half morgan half arabian

  12. it is a crossbreed between an arab and morgan...and it is a proper registered breed

  13. It is a registered breed now. It is a made up name, as are all breed names when they are getting established. In this case, purebred registered MORgans are bred with purebred registered AraBs and the resultant offspring were called Morabs. They are popular, have their own "look" and performance niche. There's also Quarabs, which were started by crossing Quarter Horses and Arabians. And Anglo-Arabs. They are all registered breeds with rules and guidelines for registerable stock. All breeds have a basic foundation in one or two other breeds, then man comes along and breeds for certain traits and characteristics that he likes but can't find in one single breed.

  14. Morgan Arabian cross.

    There is a registry:

    http://www.morab.com/

"The Morab horse is a breed combining the blood of Morgan and Arabian horses to form the  Magnificent Morab. The Morab is the best of both worlds!

The International Morab Breeders' Association (I.M.B.A.) is a full-service Morab breed association and registry for owners of Morabs and Half-Morabs. IMBA is devoted to the promotion and enjoyment of Morab horses.

The I.M.B.A. was formed in 1986, and Incorporated in 1987, by Morab horse breeders who wanted an organized outlet to market and promote their Morab horses. The International Morab Registry (IMR) was started in 1992, and represents Morabs back to 1973. The IMR requires documented Arabian and Morgan bloodlines and allows no more than 75% Arabian to 25% Morgan, or vice versa.  Thus, a  Morab  of 50% Morgan and 50% Arabian bloodlines can be bred to purebred Morgans, Morabs, or Arabians for foals that are eligible for registration in the IMR.  This allows a breeder many options in matching mares and stallions for a foal that truly offers the best of both breeds. "

  18. it is a morgan and arabian cross. not sure if it is considered an actual breed. yes i guess it can be considered a designer "breed" like dogs... cockapoo, labradoodle, ect. just like a quarter horse and arab cross is sometimes considered a quarab.
