  1. The Linksys PAP2 is an ATA (analog telephone adapter) that allows you to use a regular telephone with your choice of VoIP service providers that support SIP (session initiation protocol) compatible devices (most do now days).

The PAP2 is used by and with many different VoIP service providers (broadband VoIP service) - it's a popular device.

If you get if from your service provider, it usually comes pre-configured for their service (and often locked - can't used with other services).

However, PAP2 can also be purchased from many vendors - unlocked and unconfigured.  It takes a little more tech savvy to configure your own ATA, but the rewards are big.

I purchased my PAP2T-NA (two of them) from VoIP Depot in Canada.  I have successfully configured it for use with many VoIP services on a BYOD (bring your own device) and pay-as-you-go basis.

I have more info on this subject on my "CQ VoIP Call" web site.  The link is in my profile.

  2. f you are also interested in getting VoIP service along with a pretty good deal on a PAP2, you can get both at:

This is my voip provider, and I my experience with them has been very good, for over 6 months now.

You have to click to sign up, and choose the option to buy hardware from them. They are offering a "service rebate" so you pay around $35 for the PAP2 (and there is also an option to rent the PAP2 for free, with a refundable deposit of $50.)
