What is a Popular Style of HOuse right now

As I look at all the new homes around here, I'd have to say McMansion.  A close second and more prominent in established communities, the McTeardown.

Bungalows are very common, they are sturdy and easy to build on, and the interior usually has a center hall plan that works with modern life. It's hard to fake quality on a bungalow too, although I suppose they can be shoddily done (but you would most likely KNOW it) These homes are often tied into the craftsman style where all the work shows...so you have good materials, and excellent workmanship.

A lot of people, though, SADLY...are having to go with mobile or manufactured/modular homes. Because they are easy and cheap to build. Part of the instant gratification culture we live in.

And I guess there is, in general...a swing toward fixer-uppers. Either because you have to settle for it, or because you intend to restore it.

craftsman is quite popular in the Pacific NW right now...though I expect anything energy efficient will outweigh style concerns in the next few years.
