A pyramid type business does not pay you wages for hours worked or a salary for your employment services. The scheme is to get you to work for them for free, selling you their products and expecting you to sell the products they sold you for your compensation, with the concept that each person selling below you will offer you additional compensation. Very risky! The worst cases I've seen offer bonus certificates that aren't worth the paper they are printed on.  These are high pressure sales people who claim to be expert motivational business people and in my opinion are jerks who enjoy jerking people around.

A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, without any product or service being delivered. It has been known to come under many guises.
