I am thinking about getting a used Canon Rebel XT, it comes with the 18-55 or course, but also a Quantaray 70-300 lens.

I dont realy know what a Quantaray lens is, can you help?

Ive been wanting to get a Nikon D40(with 18-55 and a 55-200 lens), but this one is realy cheap (only $450 for everything)

How good is the rebel XT compared to a Nikon D40?

  2. Quantaray lenses are made for the Ritz chain of photo stores by Sigma.

Lenses are the backbone of your system. Cheap glass will noticeably degrade your images. You should try and get the best lens you can afford. If you can't afford to spend more, go ahead and get this cheap kit, with an eye to upgrade as soon as possible.
