ok so a friend of mine said he is thinking of joining the navy, of what i can on explain as an escape from having "The Normal" anyway he said that he can sign up go to basic training for the summer then when fall rolls around he said they will pay for 4 years of college. then after his four years he must go to the navy for xx amount of time. is this true or is he giving me false info which usually this person does. this is for the summer of 2009.

ps i dont know what this kid once to do with his life it seems only last week he wanted to go on a road trip with me for the whole summer and travel the US.

  1. a Reserve GI, is a member of the United States Reserve System. ie: Army Reserves, Marine Corp. Reserves, Air Force Reserves...ect.

  2. i havent heard of that, now if he is joining as a reserve, then he wil be able to get his schooling paid for after he completes training, but he can still be activated to go to iraq and everythign else... they arent just going to train him then letting him go to college for 4 years without getting someting out of him.... good luck

  3. The selected reserves GI Bill is for all Reservists who have signed for 6 yrs in the reserves (drilling) and 2 yrs inactive. This program is sort of different from the regular GI Bill in how it works.
