  1. It is basically the cleanliness of tack, horse, rider, fitting of tack etc.

Black showing jacket, white or cream jodphurs for you, and a tie of course.

Normal tack, correctly fitting and clean, well shod horse, oiled hooves, clean trimmed (unless the horse is a pedigree breed with naturally hairy features, mane and tail and feathers ie mountain and moorland)

  2. in a turn out show you can do it in hand or ridden. You will have to wear cream jodphurs and black or brown riding boots a hat and jacket.your horse should be plaited up (if not native). you should just have to stand in a line and tehy will judge who looks the best turned out. Your tack should also be cleanded. really you just need to look turned out nice.

  3. You  and the horse have to be spotless.

  4. Proper show equipment - breeches, show jacket etc.

    Your horse must be spotless!

A turnout show judges just that - the best turned out horse and rider

ADD: It varies on the individual show as to whether its in-hand or ridden. I have competed in both. Feel free to email me if you like.

  5. hey use shampoo and use conditioner to help your horse shine and his/her coat will look a whole lot smoother

  6. Basically they asses the condition of your horse and how smart you look, so its the equivalent to a beauty contest in human terms.

You will probably have to wear a hunt coat or at least a smart riding jacket and white or cream breeches with jodphur clips if you wear short boots or well polished long boots. You will need to also wear a blouse, a smart white one so you look good.

Your horse will probably need to be plaited up or his/her mane suitabley pulled and conditioned. the horses coat will need to be shining and full of gloss and the hooves should be oiled with hoof oil to make them gleam.

You will need to clean your tack so that it looks almost new again and so the leather is supple and it looks respectable on your horse.

    I hope this helps!
