What is a USB jack on a PS3?

I'm trying to decide what model of the PS3 to get and I keep hearing about USB ports or jacks or whatever the h**l they're called but I dont even know what they are.

It is that little thing that you plug your camera, thumb drive etc. into, your computer should have atleast two.

the only reason that you would want all 4 usbs is if you want to play rock band, the instruments plug in through the usb.

you also charge the controller with a usb cable connected to the ps3.

It allows you to plug things into your PS3 just like on a computer.

I have 4 on my PS3 and have two controllers a mouse and a keyboard all plugged into my PS3. So I am currenttly using all 4.

The USB ports are for transferring information basically.

On the PS3 it is muli purpose in that it used as a power charger for your controller, used to sync your PSP (if you have one), used for the Eye Toy, and extra controllers.

I really like having my 80g with 4 ports because it allows me to have up to 7 players playing at one time. Most people do not need this but it is SICK when I have 6 of my friends and I playing Madden on my Big Screen!!!

The USB is just a port to transfer Music, Videos, etc., etc.

usb things are the same as lon your computer. it doesnt really matter how many you have, you probably wont use them all. i have 4, the most ive used at once is 2. they supply power to devices, such as eyetoys and theyre used to charge the controllers and stuff. wait till september to buy though, there is a price drop, and the 40 gb model will be replaced with an 80gb model. if you want mgs4, get the $500 model, otherwise just get the $400 model, both will be 80gb next month when the new on(the 400 dollar one) comes out.
