I'm looking at new irons. I was told one of the easiset and longest Irons to hit wasThe Wilson Staff Di7. It comes only with a Uniflex shaft. I was told also that Callaway has been using the Uniflex shaft on some of their products. Is it like a Senior "A" shaft, Soft-Regular, Light, Regular? I have been hitting a regular and was thinking about going to a Senior. 60 years old with a swing speed of 80-85.

  1. uniflex is a shaft that is cut at 2 inches from the bottom. if you want a shaft that is more flexable you cut the shaft a 1 inch more stif 3 or 4 inches. the higher you go the stiffer you get. most people swing between 90 to 100 mph. not quite regular and not quite stiff. 90 percent of people swing at this speed. that is uniflex

  2. A uniflex is cheap way to avoid putting different shafts in the sets for different swing speeds.  It is supposed to work well for a number of different flexes, but of course it doesn't.  Wilson has really dropped in the ranks of top golf equipment, it used to be dominant back in the sixties, now there is like one top name player using their clubs (Padraig H.).  Look at Taylormade, Titleiest, Cobra, Calloway, Ping, Adams, all before you resort to Wilson.

  3. I had it on my Dunlop irons.   It's too flexible for me (swing around 90 MPH).     It's supposed to cover all men flex from Senior to Stiff.
