What is a VAT registration and where do i get a license?

I am starting a new buisness and i need a wholesaler i found one but i need a VAT registration and a license so i can get my stock from there how do i get these too pieces of info

You can register for VAT at HMRC, don't know what sort of license you need. Are you in the UK. Speak to businesslink before you do anything.

To register for vat you must be able to prove to HM Customs that you are trading or are intending to trade.

Your question immediately raises alarms with me in that "you NEED a wholesaler" and "NEED a vat registration".

Not sure what you're getting into here but be very careful - your comment indicates to me you may be inadvetently (or even willingly) getting involved in carousel trading or what the vat authorities call "missing trader fraud".

If I'm right - DONT DO IT.  The [poeple you deal with may be ruthless and you could end up getting stung for a ridiculously high vat bill, and when i say ridiculous i mean in excess of £1million!!!
