Question:

What is a WIMP?

A client has recently presented us with a series of website design briefs for 4 websites he wants built. Each written brief is headlined WIMP. In our meeting he referred to them in the following context: "...as you can see in the WIMP..." but I have no idea what a WIMP is. I've checked wikipedia and Google in general (and yahoo...) but cannot find anything brief related called a WIMP. It's either an acronym for something or he's made it up. Anyone else come across this?

Thought I'd check here before asking the client...

  1. its mean Why I Must Pay

  2. WIMP is an acronym for Window, Icon, Menu, Pointer. It's basically a precursor of GUI and really refers more to writing software - it was proposed as an alternative to command line interface. Check out the wikipedia article.

This is the the only WIMP i can think of in this context. Perhaps he was mixing his acronyms - WIMP/GUI. Hope this makes sense... otherwise... good luck.
