  2. There are many definitions of a "wolf tree".  Here is the one from Websters Dictionary:

a very large forest tree that has a wide-spreading crown and inhibits or prevents the growth of smaller trees around it

A wolf tree is a tree in a bush or a thicket which is different in shape from those around it; a tree whose broader trunk and spreading branches indicate that it once grew alone but is now surrounded.

  3. A wolf Tree is a tree that is in the middle of the pasture that farmers would take there break under while plowing the field. Then many seedlings pop up causing problems.

Some farmers called them the wolf tree, possible because farmers and hunters considered wolves to be the farmers and hunters enemy. Here is a site on wolf Tree.
