What is a Worm....?

While trying to send a photo with an email my security box came up and said a worm had been detected can someone please explain what this is etc?

  1. Do a complete scan with your security program, if you have one; if you don't, go get a good one like Norton or McAfee and clean up your system.

    Now as to how it got in your system, it all depends where you go on the Internet and who is sending you e-mails or other stuff from the Internet jungle out there.

    Just be careful where you go and what you do on the web.


  2. It is basically a type of a virus that burrows its way deeper and deeper into your system files the longer you let it go and it also can cause other problems as well. It acts like a worm does with soil, and in this case your data is the soil. If left unchecked(the one on your computer was stopped) then it can end up with a destroyed HDD.

    For how it got there, you either downloaded a file or happened to come to a site which is considered one of the rare "corrupt" sites and you got the infection while on there. Check what you download, don't download at random or anything from emails of untrusted people, surf safe.
