im from aberdeen (scotland) but why are they called aberdeen hooks? and whats diferent about them?

  1. I agree with Airflo, and he is giving you excellent info. He would get my vote infact he will, sure knows his hooks. To add Aberdeen is just the name of the style of the hook like the circle hook , the kahle , bleeding bait hook,etc.

    Aberdeens are long shanked and fine wire hooks, fine wire is a + on hooking ability and tearing away from snags,but a - on bending from big fish. Email me for possible uses of the Aberdeen hooks


  2. Aberdeen hooks are the favorite of crappie fishermen.The hooks are a fine wire and if snagged, with a steady pull will straighten out enough to become un-snagged. This is great for fishermen who fish in brush piles and log -jams etc. The hooks are easliy bent back into the regular J bend  and ready for action once again.

  3. An aberdeen hook is the most simple form of hook, and one of the first invented, its the standard J shaped hook, by this i mean its not offset and has a simple small eye.
