You must put down the same amount that you put on your Tax Returns.  The credit card companies have access to all your info.  Lying will be construed as fraud and you may never get a credit card.

I know somebody who put $100,000 as their annual salary. They got a credit card their first credit card with a 15k credit limit. Apparently they don't verify your salary but I would think of you put $40,000 or higher you should get approved as long as you dont have bad credit from missed payments or defaults.
