  1. All I know is that with lovebirds you MUST have 2 and if they are separated or one dies, the other one dies too. That's why they're called LOVE-BIRDS.

    Good luck.

  2. i dont like lovebirds.  they're very pretty and all..  but they're screeching is too damned noisy and irritating!!  its really high-pitched and much louder than cockatiel noises.  and those large beaks scare me..  they look like they could seriously make my fingers bleed even if they didnt bite very hard.

i love cockatiels!  they can make a lot of noise in the mornings.. but i say that if you arent willing to put up with some noise, then you shouldnt even think of getting a bird.

price ranges for tiels range/depend according to where you get it, if its handfed or not, and the color mutation it is.

pet store tiels can be very expensive.  and they are often not handfed (which makes it difficult to train), and in poor health.

if you are going to get a cockatiel, then i strongly suggest that you get one from a local breeder.  birds from breeders are more than likely to be handfed, tenderly cared for from the moment they're hatched, and waaaayyy cheaper than the store!  the breeder will also be able to answer any questions you have regarding the care of the bird (which is more than i can say of ppl who work at pet stores...  they dont know anything!)

at the store near my house, i saw a normal grey tiel going for $150 and it wasnt handfed.

but i paid only $100 for BOTH of my lutino tiels at a breeders. both of them were handfed and verrrry friendly

to look for a breeder, just open up the classifieds of your newspaper and look under Pets.

  3. Well if you get a lovebird you have to get a female and a male! So cockatiel would be less noisy because you only need one. At my pet store the love bird pair (thats the only way they sell them, they are called "lovebirds" ya know) are $199.99.

  4. They both scream about the same. Cockatiels is louder but lovebirds have very high pitched chirps. Lovebirds tend to be more of a one person kind of bird, while tiels can be like that too there are not as many, vice versa for lovebirds. Lovebirds also tend to develop cage agression as they get older. If this happens you just have to let it come out on its own.

The price ranges are usually around $50-$140 depending on what type you get and where you go to get them

  5. well i don't have a lovebird, but i got a cockatiel. they are good for the most part, but they can be just as noisy as lovebirds, from what i read. these birds range from $40 - $120, i got my cockatiel for $75. I have been reading up on lovebirds, because I'm looking to maybe get one, and have found that it is a myth that they require two to be pets. lovebirds can live as singles. if you want the bird to bond close to you then one will do, but if you will be gone for most of the day then two is best. what i read it said that when getting two lovebirds there isn't a guarantee that they will like each other. so either way they seem to be good birds.

  6. lovebird
