  1. Hi Ellen, how do yo do?, me again

Well dear, Punta Cana is only a hotel strip with not much to do for people who like to discover during their vacations. The distance between both is about 7 hours driving!

Puerto Plata is the best for people like you. You have everything here, big beaches, hotel/resorts (all incl.) at 10 min from town by public bus, Ocean World (swim with dolphins), Isabella de Torre ( cable car) and so much more to do and discover!! For example if you are interested in history you have the unique excursion of Isabela Historica where you can discover the real first village of the new world, the first church and with a sea food lunch included. This is a must for people like you. Anyway Ellen I have so much more for you, just let me know what ever you like to ask and I will answer.

Hope to ear from you guy's.

    Happy Feet

  2. The thing is, Punta Cana is a resort area that was built strictly for tourists. You will not see the "real" DR there. It is all new modern hotels much like Florida. Puerto Plata on the other hand, is a real Domincan city with shanty towns, ghettos, real Domincan food, panhanders, open sewers, poverty, and very colorful culture. This is not intended to offend Dominicans. I love DR and it's culture. They are the most friendly people on earth. and the local food is fantastic. Myself, I prefer to mix with the local culture, so I don't care for Punta Cana. I love Puerto Plata, Sosua, Caberette, and most of all , Boca Chica. Yes, it is a long drive from Punta Cana to any "real" Domincan culture.
