both are really good colors

white makes you look like you have a really good tan

and black makes you look more slim

Well, they're both very neutral, but I'd have to go with white.

It looks cleaner, brighter, and doesn't make me look pale.

I'd choose an average-looking white dress over a gorgeous-looking black dress any day. That may be because I've been told that black isn't my color though.

However, black clothing could make you look slimmer, so that's a bonus ... I'd go for both colors, maybe black jeans and a pretty white blouse.

In terms of makeup - same goes, white makes your eyes brighter, black defines. It's hard to choose :)
