  1. Answer depends on your requiements. Surefire is too expensive, what a marketing hype rip off! Get something cheaper with normal batteries. I would suggest a Fenix 2AA battery LED flashlight, or if you need something heavier like a "bat", then a 2D cell Mag light (again LED type) would be my choices. They are relatively inexpensive, the LED will last forever (no replacement bulbs required), the light source is blindingly bright, and the batteries will last a long long time (10x longer than old style incandesent bulbs or Mag lite "krypton" bulbs"). You could use rechargeable batteries and be green! Also, Fenix and Mag Lite both have various filters (red) and accesories (carrying lanyards, holsters, etc).

  2. Everyone on here is saying how "expensive" the Surefire lights are.

I have the same model the US Coast Guard carries, the Surefire G2, its a double 3 volt in a composite case, very bright, very durable and only $26.

I also have a Dorcy I carry in my truck console, it was $30.

Is $30 too much for a bad@$$ tac light?

  3. I carry a rechargable Stinger flashlight. I hate changing batteries.

  4. get a mag lite cuz if worse comes to worse batteries die etc or u just wanna have fun u can use the d**n thing as a bat lol so heavy and long

  5. I Have a streamlight TLR-1 on my 45 Operator.  It will light up a huge area.  very durable to.  I have never had problems with it and the batteries last awhile.  I hear good things from surefire but,  I have never owned one.  I think a TLR-1 would be excellent for your situation.  Even if its not mounted on a Firearm.

  6. I been a cop for 12 years.

Bought a Maglight, and dropped it, broke the bulb. This happened 3 maybe 4 times before I bought a Streamlight Sl30. I dropped it, threw it, cursed it lost it, found it 2 days later, and still got it. Its a mess, but it works great. now I own 5 others for different applications.

Surefire is the same great quality, but 2 times the price.

  7. I have a Streamlight Scorpion mounted on my Bushmaster XM15, I am amazed by the power output of this light, they're made in the US, have a lifetime warranty, and considerably less money than a surefire.  I think with surefire you're paying for the name, the Scorpion is a "cheap" light($40, if i remember correctly), but I can't imagine a light being much better than that, the only thing that would make it better is if it was rechargable. Check out my source's, they have good selections of both surefire, streamlight, as well as other options.

  8. For a pistol I like my Streamlight, for everything else Surefire.

  9. Personal experience has shown me that the SureFire is worth the difference in price.  I do Emergency Response including Confined Space Rescue at work.  My SureFire is the light I trust.  Streamlight bulbs do not hold up to the abuse that the SureFire bulbs will.  I have even tried the supposed Shock-Proof bulbs that Streamlight offers and they die far sooner than my SureFire bulbs have.  If your profession depends on a light, then I recommend that you depend on SureFire.
